The Viridian: 1282 Boylston St

The new 21-story Viridian on 1282 Boylston St, designed by Bruner/Cott Architects and Planners is truly a remarkable project. Centered in Boston’s busiest neighborhood – Fenway, the Viridian is clad with  61,000 sf of beautiful terra cotta rainscreen facade by Agrob Buchtal/CB Products.  The complete rainscreen system included terra cotta panels and engineered aluminum backup system.

The material supply for this project is complex in nature. The building has east and west towers, each consisting of different primary and accent colors as well as three distinct panel finishes (Smooth, Grooved, and Stripy). This configuration resulted in 6 different panel types. The project required 63 different lengths of panels for a total of almost 27,000 individual panels. The panels are installed  in various random patterns according to the architect’s vision.
