Terracotta Rainscreen In Boston With a Modern Look

There are few cities in the United States as historically significant and architecturally diverse as Boston. Take a walk around the city and you will see how one of Americas oldest cities has grown and evolved by just looking at the buildings surrounding you. From brick buildings hundreds of years old to new modern skyscrapers, Boston is a living representation of how arIMG_0271chitecture and style has changed over time.

Following the success of the Boylston Street project near Fenway Park we are excited to announce that CB Products has successfully supplied another façade for the Element Hotel in South Boston. CB Products supplied the rainscreen consisting of nearly 30,000 SqFt of neutral colored terracotta panels and aluminum panels used as green accent colors throughout gave the building a classic clean look with a pop of color to give it that hip modern feel.

One of the challenges we faced during design and engineering was the fact that we used 2 different colors with 3 different finishes in 5 different heights. It was thought that this could cause installation to take longer… however, this proved to be no issue for the installing company Lymo who was able to understand the system very quickly and got everything installed in record time.IMG_0269

In talking to the architect Tom Rourke of Elkus Manfridi Architects after completion he said
“The building has been a bit of a hit, thanks in part to the skin”. We are going to go ahead and agree with Tom on that!
